Many emerging businesses realize that their operations software must scale to the number and complexity of transactions within their business​. Logistics Plus is a service-oriented company that quickly grew from $5 million to over $25 million in annual revenue, with a large part of this revenue coming from Internet transactions. The number of online transactions along with customer transportation needs caused Logistics Plus to rely more and more on their website to communicate with customers. Unfortunately complicated transportation tariffs along with customer discounts complicated the freight rating process.

Logistics Plus engaged Distributed Network Software (DNS) to create a web application to rate freight for the supply chain management industry. eShipPlus.com web application was born as a two tier, role based freight rating web application created using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET tools and SQL Server database along with SMC’s Rateware and CarrierConnect engine. Today eShipPlus.com is a three-tiered application, allowing customers to rate their customers and instantly fax bills of lading to freight terminals for scheduling. 

In addition, DNS created an administrative site for users to manage and update freight transactions and user access. The web application, located at www.eshipplus.com, allows customers to search for and select the best rate, generate a bill of lading and immediately notify and schedule the carrier for pickup. eShipPlus.com enterprise web application is built on Microsoft products using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET tools and hosted on a Microsoft Window 2003 x64 Server in the commercial hosting facility at DNS. DNS environmentally controlled hosting facility is supported by an 85KW generator, intrusion monitoring as well as three-layer fire, access-control and burglar protection.
